I'm currently using hbase 0.18.1 and looking to move to trunk until 0.19 is
available and stable. I have a reasonably sized dataset built up (255 regions
in one table) that I'd prefer not to lose, mostly because of the time it takes
to reload it from the source data. My primary concerns are issue that may
lead to table corruption or other data loss. To mitigate things I'm looking
for backup strategies. My cluster is currently pretty small and I'm far more
limited by memory than disk space, so I have a lot storage to use for backup
purposes. As a simplistic approach, I was considering just stopping hbase and
making a copy of its directory on DFS. Does anyone have any experience backing
up HBase to offer alternatives/suggestions?

Thanks
