If I have an infinite 3D dataspace, starting at (0,0,0), but that should be able to extend both in positive and negative coordinates indefinitely, how to I do this? Do I have to split it in 8 different dataspaces?
OTOH, I dont think I need to extend to the limit of the integer range, so would it be efficient to map the (0,0,0) in my application to (2^30, 2^30, 2^30)? With incremental strategy, chunks that are not used do not get allocated, so it should not be a problem to write data at about (2^30, 2^30, 2^30)? Is there more overhead or a performance penalty when using such high coordinates?
