Instead of deleting the previous patch and upload a new one with the same file
name, you can simply upload a new version patch with different names. For
example, _HDFS-9457.000.patch_, _HDFS-9457.001.patch_, _HDFS-9457.002.patch_,
_HDFS-9457.003.patch_...
I think both will work just fine. You're right to preserve what was already
there, especially the format. My preference may be subjective, plus I don't
have commit access as I'm a contributor (not committer) yet. Let's wait for
more input from others.
