Hi folks, I've gone through the 78 open subtasks and added the
"hdfs-ec-3.0-nice-to-have" and "hdfs-ec-3.0-must-do" labels as I thought
appropriate.
I think there's also room for splitting out additional umbrellas, since the
number of subtasks on this one is getting unmanageable. There seem to be a few
themes:
* conversion between replication and EC
* performance
* coder implementation, configuration, and usage
* additional testing
There are also additional misc new features and bugs. I propose we move out the
longer-term features that aren't immediately being worked on to separate JIRAs
(e.g. the truncate/append work, LRC and pluggable block placement). I think we
should also move out bugs, and add at least the "nice-to-have" if not "must-do"
label for tracking purposes.
Overall the goal here is to get the # of subtasks down to a manageable number,
so we can actually resolve this umbrella in time for Hadoop 3 GA.
If this sounds good, I'll go ahead and reshuffle the JIRAs later this week.
