Xiao Chen commented on HDFS-13655:
----------------------------------
m2c: if it's small improvements/bugs that people feels comfortable going into
trunk, it can go to trunk. Security and this can still be feature branch. I'm
not sure what timeline we're looking, but it may be good to have a preliminary
goal (e.g. checklist of things, and maybe a date) of when we plan to merge
'feature branch x' to trunk and the misc. jiras can catch that train.
If needed, we can repeat this once that's done - if there are new misc. things
that we don't feel can go into trunk, we create 'feature branch y' and set a
new goal for it.
We definitely appreciate all your contributions and don't want tedious process
to drag them. :)

> with [~elgoiri], there are some HDFS methods that does not take path as a
> parameter. We should support these to work with federation.
> The ones missing are:
> * Snapshots
> * Storage policies
> * Encryption zones
> * Cache pools
> One way to reasonably have them to work with federation is to 'list' each
> nameservice and concat the results. This can be done pretty much the same as
> {{refreshNodes()}} and it would be a matter of querying all the subclusters
> and aggregate the output (e.g., {{getDatanodeReport()}}.)
