Sure, I agree logical names are preferable. But having an automatic mapping so
you can deploy the same hdfs-site.xml to all nodes is better for manageability.
I used to manage some MySQL active-active setups and it was always a pain to
deal with changing server_id on the local config of either side of the
[otherwise-identical] pair.
