Weiwei Yang commented on HDFS-6874:
-----------------------------------

Hi [~elgoiri]

Yes, this is a mess now :(. The root cause was because this internal API
GET_BLOCK_LOCATIONS was not following FileSystem API format. My thought is to
adding GETFILEBLOCKLOCATIONS for both httpfs (this one) and
webhdfs(HDFS-12459), and then start to deprecated GET_BLOCK_LOCATIONS, after 1
or 2 releases, remove GET_BLOCK_LOCATIONS, when we get fully consistent across
systems. What do you think?

> Add GETFILEBLOCKLOCATIONS operation to HttpFS

> GETFILEBLOCKLOCATIONS operation is missing in HttpFS, which is already
> supported in WebHDFS. For the request of GETFILEBLOCKLOCATIONS in
> org.apache.hadoop.fs.http.server.HttpFSServer, BAD_REQUEST is returned so far:
> .......
>  case GETFILEBLOCKLOCATIONS: {
>         response = Response.status(Response.Status.BAD_REQUEST).build();
>         break;
>       }
> ........
