Sho,
FileSystem instance underneath for HDFS operations is DistributedFileSystem, so
it should be OK to use getDefaultBlockSize.
You even made the change in
{{hadoop-hdfs-project/hadoop-hdfs/src/main/java/org/apache/hadoop/hdfs/DFSClient.java}}
that pertains to this. We should use it wherever is possible, and not repeat
ourselves.
