For anyone else who wants to review it, note that we've been merging from trunk
-> HA branch almost daily, so just looking at a diff between trunk and the HA
branch should mostly highlight the salient changes for HA. I also strongly
recommend that any reviewers who are just now looking at the branch take a look
at [the testing plan document attached to this JIRA by
Todd|https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/attachment/12514080/ha-testplan.pdf],
which discusses which areas of the code have the most changes in section 1.5.
