Lohit Vijayarenu commented on HDFS-6469:
----------------------------------------

Still reading design document. One question I had was about this
bq. A CNode can fail or be taken down intentionally for maintenance. The other
replicated
CNodes will continue operating as long as they form a quorum sufficient for the
Coordination
Engine to generate agreements. If the quorum is lost, then the cluster will
freeze waiting for
the quorum to be restored.

Can you explain little bit more about if CNodes really have to have a quorum.
Can something of that be handled by Coordination Engine already?

> This is a proposal to introduce ConsensusNode - an evolution of the NameNode,
> which enables replication of the namespace on multiple nodes of an HDFS
> cluster by means of a Coordination Engine.
