Hi all, I'm working on a book about Sarah Shnirer now (using the established spelling of her name there even though it's more widely spelled Sarah Schenirer). One of the subject headings that's already been assigned is "Beth Jacob Central Administration," which makes sense for a book about the establishment of the school movement.
But in browsing through related subject headings, I saw that there are no other Beth Jacob / Bet Yaakov / Bais Yaakov etc. headings, only this "Beth Jacob Central Administration." This heading is only relevant to the Bais Yaakov movement until around the start of the Holocaust, and today there is no central authority. A better heading for discussion of Bais Yaakov schools across the world and beyond the life of its founder would be "Beth Jacob Schools" or something like that - maybe "Beth Jacob (Orthodox schools for girls)," linking to alternate spellings like Bet Yaakov, Bais Yaakov, Beis Yaakov, Bet Yakov, and other variations. There's not a ton written about this topic, but there are enough books that I think would be helped by this heading, whether talking about schools in the US, Israel, Europe, etc. Maybe something the NACO committee can talk about?
