Thank you all. The book I'm cataloging is OCLC 123009469. I decided to add both Prayers and Devotional literature. I'm thinking that Liturgical books is more for established liturgy like Siddurim and Mahzorim.
Based on the background section on Scope Notes (J195) in the LCGFT manual: Catalogers are encouraged to be generous in providing scope notes when proposing new terms of this type, while also being mindful that scope notes supersede cataloger’s judgment and may therefore be unduly limiting if provided for terms that are generally understood. I'm thinking that we can ignore the 670s that have the Christian bent. The more we use them, the more we will get a feel for it. Thanks again! Caroline Caroline R. I used it recently when cataloging a rare book, OCLC 1167626413 (here's the record in Stanford's catalog<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://searchworks.stanford.edu/view/in00000298622__;!!KGKeukY!3i3fS3Cizk39RkMo8IxaIf-tt7PNkdNvvCDoOKaoDylciv9Sz5AUHcuqx0R7LX8K6CWz-H5ZO_uV4wz8nO-arJv4LcLk8Q$ > with additional information/context that only makes it to the local record). I suppose all of these run the risk of having a Christian bend, but the genre term for Haggadot<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2019026013.html__;!!KGKeukY!3i3fS3Cizk39RkMo8IxaIf-tt7PNkdNvvCDoOKaoDylciv9Sz5AUHcuqx0R7LX8K6CWz-H5ZO_uV4wz8nO-arJsgvmvkqQ$ > stems from Liturgical books, so I think it can be applied to Judaic prayer materials as well. Without knowing the resource in-hand, you definitely can use 2 (or more) LCGFT headings. “Devotional literature” is heading that can be applied to many books, and one I use for resources that are limud yomi in nature. However, the only draw back to Devotional literature is that the 670s have a Christian bent to it. I hope this helps. The general notes under "Devotional literature" is: * Religious materials that are intended to be used as aids for private study, prayer, and reflection. * Should we just be adding both? Thanks.
