The user should not be aware of 'control characters'. It's an implementation detail, and we surely don't want to explain a non-technical user the mysteries of the UBA. I think the end-user understands much better the concept of "this text has this or that direction". He can mark arbitrary blocks and set their direction and we'll work behind the scenes to insert control characters in the most optimized form.
