Can't install OO643c on Mandrake 9

When running oo643 installer from inside gnome on mandrake 9, I get past the personal information step, and then the installer disappears (presumably crashed) .
* Where can I find a log of what went on there? Is such a log kept?
* Any idea what went on, and how to get the install to finish ok? Maybe I am missing something that it needs?
