Few OOo Q

Hi, I have few OOo Q: The OOo document format, is it binary or XML? Can I connect OOo to ERP systems? Specific to SAP? How good is the macros in OOo, will I be able to use macros build on MSOF in OOo? Is it available only in Writer?   Any help would be great J
