Perhaps a less trivial sign-up process?
From the top of my head- having the user type "ok" in the first line of confirmation message in order to finish the subscription, so random replays to that email will not lead to subscription?


At any rate, we should have removal instructions on the footer of all emails, to reduce the number of "how do I remove myself?" mails sent to the list.
