Hello folks,

the release date for the 0.5.0 release has been postponed several times already, but I believe that the current set date of August 8th can be the final. I see two important reasons for that:

a) In my opinion we should make the release before the beginning of
the HelenOS Camp 2012, so we can fully focus on the new great
features and not to worry about the release during the camp.

b) The two remaining open tickets can be postponed to 0.5.1 in the
worst case. They are marked as defects, but I don't think they are
   regressions from the previous release.

Speaking about the open tickets:

#461 No interrupts for uspace on real hardware when SMP enabled
#452 amd64 cores do not contain valid register information

I don't know how Jakub progresses with #461 and I don't want to minimize this issue (it affects not only Jiri's machine, but a large class of machines). But, on the other hand, a proper solution would be to reimplement all the interrupt controller drivers as first-class DDF citizens supporting all the non-trivial configurations there is, Thus, postponing #461 is not fatal.

Regarding #452: If I remember correctly, Jiri said during our last meeting that he was not entirely sure whether register information in amd64 cores had been implemented yet. Again, postponing #452 to the 0.5.1 development cycle won't kill us.

Any comments?

M.D.
