Neil, Yes! That is exactly what I have tried to do on both community 3.0.5p1 and 3.1.5a1 with no success. You successfully grep'd the nfs file system from "list2". Because of this I suspect that you could also grep it from the fstab list variable that I read fstab into! So why doesn't it work for me on the two cfengine versions I tested?? Now that you've helped me prove the concept I guess I'll go the bug report route. I'm really surprised by your success.
