We're just getting our vSphere up and running, and I'm eager to work it into our cfengine configs. Thanks for pointing to the Perl scripting API - it's a great find. Until recently, we were also heavily open-sourced - we still are in many areas. But, we support hundreds of servers nationwide, with a very small infrastructure staff, and have decided that it is in our customer's best interests to use some vendor-supported solutions where we can (1) afford to, and (2) need the engineering and 7x24 support.
