To submit music to Mutopia, follow the instructions on the website (at
http://sca.uwaterloo.ca/Mutopia/).
However, Mutopia currently only accepts music which is entirely out of
copyright, ie. the Composer, Arranger and Editor have all been dead for
over
seventy years. There are two reasons for this:
1) Most composers are members of a copyright organisation such as KODA or
SACEM. If you are a member then the organisations deal with collecting
the royalties from any music you write. They also prevent you from
making the music royalty-free or giving away the distribution rights.
The whole point of Mutopia is that the music on it is free to distribute
and perform.
2) Composers that aren't a member of one of the copyright organisations
described above could in theory put their music up on the web for free
without too many problems, but many don't want to place their work in
the
public domain as anyone else could then do anything they want to the
music, including typesetting it and preventing others from copying their
typeset version thus making the music "non-free". Ideally we should
create a special license to deal with music (existing licences such as
the GPL and Open Content Licence don't cover performances so are
inappropriate), but this hasn't happened yet.
So I'm afraid for the time being you won't be able to contribute your own
music to Mutopia - but I'm sure one of the other free music archives (eg.
the GMD music archive at http://www.gmd.de/Misc/Music/scores/) would be
more than happy to accept your music.
