Here at my PC Gorm installs itself at System, not Local. So: It is very likely
that you are opening an old instance, as Local precedes System in app search.

I've had a look at the ebuild and Local is correct because they set it as installation domain. But I don't have the problems for me gorm is working correctly and I am also running Gentoo.
I have the following packages installed:
gnustep-base-1.12.0
gnustep-gui-0.10.3
gorm-1.0.4

Fabian: Maybe you could check with ldd against which libraries gorm has been linked.
