It would be great if a windows person can test the latest git repository to see if the issue is fixed.
Built and tested current git (commit d87d114206ca88e0e5aef2b7014b12906a345a75) and it went well for me.
Only failing test now is specfunc - but, as I mentioned elsewhere in this thread, that's a mingw bug.
