It could be a problem, why there is no bank account opened up for Guix

bank account for Guix which does not cost money itself every month.

Shortly. We had a bank account in France – from 2016 to 2024 – that had
been unilaterally closed. So we did unrewarding work to fix this
situation – no account from Feb 2024 to June 2025. Therefore, we had to
find workarounds in this meantime. Sorry for the annoyances. Please
read [1] as an entry point for more details. :-)

Now, all is fixed \o/. We have a proper bank account registered in France.
And various platforms are studied for easing the donations.

Hope that helps.

I think I already discussed this with you, Simon, but it would be good if Guix Foundation was available in Paypal Giving Fund:

https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/givingfund/home

I don't like Paypal, at all, but it helps create donation campaigns in some online platforms very easily and they can be run by anyone.

I sometimes stream in Twitch and I have set up a fundraiser for the FSF (it's two clicks) that collected a few bucks already (everything counts!), I would like to be able to fundraise for Guix too.

I don't expect the account setting to be very complicated.

Also, it would be great if there was a direct way to donate that is simple and effective (sending cash by mail like in the 80s? wire transfer without having to ask for the IBAN? Supporting some money sharing apps like Bizum?)... I don't know how possible and safe it is to directly share bank details and such in the internet.

If you guys think I can help with any of this, please let me know. I believe the Guix Foundation can be really useful, and we need to push it a little bit.

Best,
Ekaitz

PS1: If some of you don't like Paypal either that's reasonable. I think the FSF had some post explaining why they decided to support Paypal even if they weren't really convinced about it. Maybe waiting until GNU Taler really takes off is not a good strategy :)

PS2: I have some ideas about how to make the Guix Foundation get a little bit more of money. But we could discuss those in a different thread.
