Hi,
We've launched a fundraising campaign for Guix, so I'm asking for people
to help sustain Guix by making a donation.
The context for why we need support is that Guix is an independent
project, there's no corporate backer. All the project's expenses are
funded by donations from supporters.
Our goal is for Guix to be sustainable, meaning we're able to pay the
project's expenses from the donations we receive. At the moment we don't
raise nearly enough to cover those expenses.
To do that we need €15000 (roughly $17,500) of donations a year. That
would pay for our current expenses. It's a big goal - but if 125 people
were able to contribute €10 a month then we'd hit the target!
Beyond that it would be great to do more. There's more we could do - if
we had the funds - to strengthen the project and community. From things
like improving the resilience of infrastructure to doing more activities
to promote Guix.
So the campaign is to sustain and strengthen Guix.
You can give a recurring or one-time donation through either the FSF or
Guix Foundation.
A recurring donation is ideal because it means we can align the ongoing
costs of the shared resources with the donations we're receiving.
Equally, we value and appreciate one-time donations - any support you
can give is fantastic. Every donation gets us a step closer to being
sustainable.
