Hi everyone, This issue is caused because gnome-shell’s XDG autostart file is not found by GDM’s gnome-session when gnome-desktop-service-type is not used. This is an unfortunate oversight from my part. A temporary fix is to add gnome-shell to your packages list in your system configuration. But keep in mind, GDM is a complete gnome session by itself, so you are running GNOME either way, just without the apps. If you don’t want to run GNOME, it would recommend using another display manager such as what was discussed in this thread. Keep in mind also that GDM is dropping X11 support in the next version: * Entirely removed X11 support, except for the ability to launch other desktops' X11 sessions with a per-user X server. This means that features like XDCMP and system-wide Xserver are gone, and that GDM's own sessions will always run with Wayland. Have a nice day, Noé
