First I switched to GRUB 0.5.93. Using this the incompatibility with
the new ext2fs disappears. IMHO the boot floppy image should contain
the newer version of GRUB to avoid such problems in the future.
Still gnumach or serverboot panics.

Second I moved the partition (of 500 MB) into to first GB. Now I can boot
Hurd, but still gets a error message (which is no problem for Hurd?):

hd03: bad access: block=28, count=2, blockend=39, nr_sects
end_request: I/O error, dev 03:03, sector 28

In the installation help (url:http://pick.sel.cam.ac.uk/~mcv21/hurd.html)
the problem with huge harddisks should be mentioned, too.

And last but not least, thanks for your help.
