I'd like to add the suggestion to Eric (and the rest of his group - at
Intel no less) to read http://www.faqs.org/faqs/unix-faq/shell/csh-whynot/
before continuing into the csh tar pits.  That document might lay out
some of the reasons for the smiley in Paul's comments above.

SHELL=sh really is what you want to do.
