Good day,

I am new to GNU mailing list so hope that I am sending to the right list (too many
email list to choose from! :-) ). If not please point me to the right place.

I downloaded gdbm-1.8.0 from the gnu site and installed it on a Solaris 2.6 server
here.

1) I tar-ed it into a directory called gdbm-1.8.0
2) cd to this directory I ran
        ./configure
3) I then ran
        ./make
4) I then ran
        ./make install

The output from 'make install"

./mkinstalldirs /usr/local/lib /usr/local/include /usr/local/man/man3 /usr/local/info
/bin/sh ./libtool install -c libgdbm.la /usr/local/lib/libgdbm.la
install -c .libs/libgdbm.so.2.0.0 /usr/local/lib/libgdbm.so.2.0.0
install: cp /usr/local/lib/libgdbm.so.2.0.0 .libs/libgdbm.so.2.0.0/libgdbm.so.2.0.0
failed

I do not know what I did wrong. I checked and file /usr/local/lib/libgdbm.so.2.0.0
does not exist.

Thanks
Long
