The usual format is this:

 * boo: (foo)bar.

(with whitespace between the colon and the rest).  But at least the
stand-alone Info reader doesn't have any problems with the version
without the space, although it's ugly and should be avoided.

As for the first variant, I never saw such an ugliness, but the Info
reference syntax allows it, and the stand-alone reader supports it.
