I think you should partner with Google to help build the Ruby/Rails language support (I realize this sounds ambitious to the point of being audacious, but you never know till you try :~) ). From your end, heroku will need to build in app engine support on the back end; hopefully this won't be *too* hard.
What I really like about Google's service is the ability to integrate with other Google services. As mentioned on hacker news, the ability to use Google's user logins and eventually Google checkout would be killer. Personally, I've been considering using Google docs instead of rich text fields for my app (ezlearnz.com), since that solves a whole host of problems (adding images, revision history, sharing editing capabilities, etc).
