Glad to know I'm not alone in my confusion.

On the 'features' page (http://heroku.com/features) there is a listing  
for 'Gems & Plugins' that seems to indicate there is an installer  
other than rake, but there is no demo and I am unable to find it.  
Perhaps it is just out of date documentation.

Surely Gems are supported on heroku, but rake fails for me, too. I'm  
at an impasse.
