Answered my own question: If you set up your Zerigo account via Heroku, you need to access Zerigo via the Heroku dashboard:
[1] navigate to https://api.heroku.com/myapps [2] click on the app in question (e.g. mysite) [3] click on [add ons] in upper right hand corner [4] click on [Zerigo DNS] in the drop-down list [5] click on [configure] ... and voila, it takes takes you to the Zerigo site. From there, you can configure CNAME records to your heart's content.
