Greetings, I've built a pentayurt ((5 instead of 6 sides) because I live in New England, and didn't trust the snow on the roof of a hexayurt ... yet, since I am still monkeying around with it) out of Orient Strand Board (what they used in the farm) and, I held the roof-bits together at the center-joins with ledger board on the inside, and at the corners with piano-hinges on the inside, and covered them with self-adhesive flashing (much like the foam boards, foil on one side, and tar on the other, instead of insulation). The walls have ledger-board around the tops, and a ratcheted nylon-webbing strap all the way around (the piece that makes it yurt-like, and forces the collapsing forces in the correct directions) with a door cut in it as appropriate. Oh, and some black exterior paint. It's a bit heavy, and not very portable, but it survived a harsh New England winter.
No actual framing. Were I to want to do framing, I would probably simply cut some 4x4 at a 72 degree angle, and screw those into the corners for the uprights, but beyond that ... everything just worked.
