Greetings, Were I to want to add a loft-like structure, I would actually make it independent of the hexayurt all together. That way, it can actually be a solid structure, made out of whatever is appropriate, similar to the outside structure. This also allows for a variation in the access/insulation of the outer shell, to vary, and not worry overmuch about varying your internal structures. Modular is good, independent parts are also good.
For example, if you look at the metro-shelving style of poles and shelves, you could probably ship that as a bunk-bed, or assemble loft-like areas out of a similar concept much easier, and more portable, than depending on the structure of the hexayurt around it. That leaves you free and clear to make the hexayurt out of insulation board, still, and make the loft out of metal, or wood, or whatever else people are comfortable using as loft materials, for storage, or living, or whatever they are using it for. For example, one of my friends has a "metro-shelf" setup, with a low shelf (for stability, and comfort reasons) that is a couch, and then an upper shelf that is his bed (which is why I mentioned metro-shelving, above). I've also built lofts that break down nicely using things like grid-wall and 4x4s. Percival On Wed, 2009-04-22 at 09:52 +0100, Vinay Gupta wrote: > > > Hey Rich, yes, very interesting area.
