Hi there, My name is Romain, and I am very excited by the construction of my first hexayurt for my very first time as a burner ! A question remains though : Getting 6 inches wide tape is tough, expensive, and it takes time to be delivered. Plus, you don't want to discover you're short on tape once on the playa with all your pannels!
Why can't we use cheaper, easier-to-find 3-inches wide tape to seal the panels' seams at home, and keep the holy 6 inches wide monster for the yurt to keep together once on the Playa ? Does the tape around each panels make it stronger ? Or was it only to use only one kind of tape ? I'm actually building a 10ft yurt (roof cone as usual and walls using two 6'x4' instead of one 4'x8', so the walls are 6' tall instead of only 4'). It makes a lot of pre-taping and with only 300yds of tape, I'm afraid of running out on the Playa. Do you think it's a big deal to use 3' wide tape for pretaping of the seams ? I look forwards to hearing from you, and thank you for your attention. Plus a double thumbs up for your great work of making all the information about hexayurt accessible and useful, it's a great idea !
