I didn't do anything special. Just cut them with a very nice fillet knife as I 
recall.  The edges could be beveled...i didn't...just taped them together 
inside and out, all edges including the tarp joint. Some of the worst storms 
post event in 2007, I was oblivious, sleeping normally. 
This time I am using 1.5" and am curious to discover the differences.
