For those searching for it - as best I can tell "bituthene" is a
commercial name used in the U.S. for what's more generally known as
bitumen waterproofing tape (like Kleenex is used for tissue).

[Can anyone verify this? Here's what's leading me to believe this:

The bitumen tape sounds like a strong cheap alternative, but I'd be
concerned about the smell. The off-gassing from fresh tape might not
make a newly built yurt a pleasant spot to sleep. Especially in the
heat of the desert in a small space with not-so-great ventilation.

If I'm thinking of the right stuff, it smell like the tar on a new
asphalt driveway.
