I guess I was even though I didn't know of its existence. Was this 2011?

With regards to what your dimensions might be:

The thickness (or height of the yurt panel tarped sandwich) or
dimensions *you* will have will depend on how thick *your* panels
are, and _how many panels_ you use for your design.

My H13 had thirteen 1" thick panels. Add double filament taped
hinges and you start to push past 13". Add two 1/2" plywood
(4'x8') boards wrapped in a tarp and you're probably getting
between 15" and 16" realistically. Put that on a roof rack and
it's sitting even higher off the top of the car (assuming you end
    up shipping it that way).

Building a yurt in Reno will be a bitch logistically. Your first
task would be to check to see if Home Despot has the materials
you need because if they don't, then this option becomes bogus.
But, if they do have materials, maybe you can convince them to
allow you to use a corner of one of their warehouses or something
to build it in. Wouldn't hurt to ask. All you need to do is cut
some polyiso panels and tape the hinges, that's all you're doing.
I waited till I got to the playa to make a window in my yurt,
however that resulted in more moop there than at home where I
built it. It looks like there are 3 HD stores in Reno (and there
are other cities nearby as well, i.e. Sparks). I would think
between the 3 of them, even at this late hour, you'd be able to
    find what you need.

At this late in the game, it'll be hard to find a yurt this late
to buy or rent. I sold mine as far back as March. So even
though that's the preferred option, I'd say it's less likely than
finding yurt materials at Home Despot right now.

Some of you may cringe at the thought but, seeing how close BM is
now, I'd say you may have to consider other alternatives. If you
can't make getting materials and building the yurt happen in
Reno, I'd look at cheap RV prices right now. I saw a winnebago
(that ran!) the other day and sold for $300 on craigslist.
Granted it had a leaky tranny and it was from the 60's but so
what at that price! Another one just sold for $850 in the last
couple days here in the bay area. Go in on a i.e. $1000 RV
between 4 people, do the math.

You can find several on CL for under $1000 right now, and plenty
for under $5000, even less than $3000. Granted that may be out of
your budget but, if you go in on it with several other people
from i.e. your Sacred Spaces crew, it might turn out to be the
best way to go. If you do look at this option, I'd look at
including Sacramento as well as Reno (even the bay area) in your
    RV/trailer search.

And I'm willing to bet you're not the only person in your
predicament within your circle of BM contacts. Likewise there
are cheap trailers for sale as well on CL. Even if you have a
small car, slap a trailer hitch on your car and that becomes a
doable option as long as the trailer is a small one. Speaking of
your Sacred Spaces crew, I'd be talking to them right now as well
to see what options/assistance/solutions they might offer you.
It's not what you know, it's who you know.

Or rent a pickup with a trailer hitch in Reno and then you don't
have to worry about the size of the trailer. Or find a friend
who already has a trailer hitch who's in your predicament as well.

If it's too late to make the yurt happen, there are lots of
options still, you just have to be open to them and willing to
    make them happen.

    Good luck.

        I put one H12 & one H15 into my 4 x 8 trailer along with 3 or
4 sheets 1/2" ply. Fit nice & snugly with just enough room
for a milk carton to keep it all from shifting! The back gate
wouldn't fit back in, but a couple strong truck hitches &
some buffering materials kept everything tight & safe.

I'm heading out to the playa on the 18th. I live in Reno

I get my shit together). I have a full size truck I'm
taking out there. I'm up for if u wanna build one here
and I can help transport it out. Not sure how much room
2 yurts would take up. I may have a possibility of
borrowing a small utility trailer. When are you headed
to the playa and what days would you have available to
            work on it?

Short explanation & request: The hexayurt I built in

I'll need to build another in Reno. (Or San
                Fransisco) Complicating factor: I won't have a
vehicle to lug material from the harware store to a
                build site.

Alternative request: Does anyone in Reno (Or San
Fransisco) have a hexayurt I can buy or rent for
                Burning Man?

                More fun explanation & request:

Greetings & salutations from Asheville, NC. Home of
delicious beer, tree-covered mountains, and a large
                freak community.

I find myself in an embarrassing hexayurt emergency.
Embarrassing because I thought I had planned for
every contingency, only to find myself begging to
strangers for help at the last minute.

Here is the situation: 2011 was my first burn. I
_loved_ the hexayurts, and resolved to bring one
with me to the playa in 2012.

Within six weeks of retuning home I built my first
Hexayurt with this group's help. Here is a
gratuitous link to pictures of my structure, which,
incidentally, won the 2011 "Most Creative Campsite
                at LEAF" award. ( http://imgur.com/a/lBwCC )

I rented truck-space to transport this beautiful
yurt across-country; sadly I have just been informed
this is no longer possible. (The story about what
happened to the truck is complex, and I don't want
to go into it. Suffice it to say that you should
never trust hippies with large machinery.)

I can't find an alternative way to bring the yurt
out west this late in the game. Besides, I'm flying
out to San Fransisco to help build infrastructure
for Sacred Spaces Village in four days. I simply
have too much on my plate to search for another truck.

As best I can tell, there are two solutions:

                1) Build another Yurt in Reno, then have it
transported to the playa from there. This, of
course, opens a host of other problems: Where will I
find the materials? Where will I find a covered area
to build the structure? How will I transport
                materials to the build-site?

                2) Buy a hexayurt in Reno or San Fransisco.
                (Preferred option)

Any advice, help, direction will be greatly
appreciated & add to your positive karma.
