However, remember that with 1.5", your stack of panels that you have to transport will be 50% thicker(taller) than with 1" panels. You'll have better R factor, but it will be bulkier to pack, and even more wind resistance (assuming it's going on the roof of a car). 1" panels were plenty of insulation (R) on my H13 last year, though I wouldn't have complained about having more R against the sun. If you've got the space and it's the same price (as the thinner alternative at Home Despot), go for the 1.5"
