My two cents: for my first yurt I spent a fair amount of time fabricating
something from furnace filters and sheet metal on top of a Home Depot unit. For
my second yurt I just grabbed something off the shelf at Home Depot. Anything
that has a hole and will keep the rain out seems to do a good job if you've
already got cross ventilation. Especially if you have a swamp cooler, a roof
vent doesn't make a lot of difference in my experience.

Sometimes it's not so much what you say, but how you say it. Also, whether
you're naked, high on methamphetamines, and standing in an abandoned parking
lot at the time.
