I just recently followed a link to www.sketchfab.com, under the impression that it was a web (html5) based 3d modeling program... it isn't quite that, but as they say, they want to be the youtube of 3d models. Handy if you, like me, have some 3d models of say hexayurts that would be more exciting to display as a 3d object than a set of still frames or a movie.
so i downloaded the sketchup exporter, logged into sketchfab with my google id, got the api key, put the key into the exporter and uploaded a test model to see what's up. this is what's up: https://sketchfab.com/show/aVnpKmYNLwfQo6SmCpZ5fm0wlxe background is theirs, model is mine. i had problems using opera effectively for all the processes, but firefox works great. internet explorer apparently does not at all (but sketchfab will produce a 360deg rotatable picture for non-compliant browsers/ places to post) haven't yet tested embedding the model in an iframe, ie on my blog, or on facebook with the iframe plugin installed. but plan to do that next extra minute. dylan -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hexayurt" group.
