Hi guys, I'm going to put up the Practice Safe Hex stuff in the next week or so, with a few guidelines for hexayurt best practices to
1) reduce the moop apocalypse we unleashed last year, and 2) reduce health and safety risks associated with hexayurt use I'd also like to get vendors to pledge that they Practice Safe Hex if possible, so people have at least a few basic guarantees. Here's what I've got so far 1) nothing cut on the playa, ever - no production moop 2) units transported on roofracks to be wedged between plywood sheets or similar so that road wind and vibration doesn't tear them up and dump bits all over the exit route 3) units to be properly tied down (tape anchors or the rope halo) 4) rebar to have tennis balls or bottle caps over them 5) a smoke detector in each yurt, near the apex, in case of fire we haven't had problems with fire yet, but particularly as people build larger complexes of hexayurts I start to worry these are becoming more building-like and we need to start thinking about at least two exits on opposite sides of the yurt and other fire risk reduction strategies. Can anybody think of anything to add to the list before I publicise it? I'm also considering putting up a web site listing vendors - a wikipage might result in edit wars, but if you guys can behave yourselves, that's probably what I'll do.
