Polyisocyanurate (Bold is my emphasis) is the only material to consider using for hexayurts, if constructing them from standard methods. RMAX is the preferred brand as it is readily available with radiant barriers, but there are others.
Your alternative is something like 1/4" plywood glued (in some fashion) onto Polyurethane boards. But thats a lot of hassle, and doesn't save money or time. The point is that the rigidity of the panels supports the structural loads when taped together. If you don't use rigid, Polyiso board, and a strong wind comes along, it will get destroyed. Period. If you don't know engineering, don't attempt to substitute anything for the Polyiso boards!
