Title: Re: [HG] Hackmans?
Hi Jaqueline
I would start by hoping it would play itself out in a few tunes if it weren't too serious. Failing that you could try retouching the area that is slipping with rosin locally - this will take some playing to even out the inevitable glitch,  but if these 'hope for the best' measures don't work you'll have to wipe the wheel with a cloth slightly more than damp with alchohol, and let it dry for ages - like hours.
I find its men who touch wheels when I'm busking. They will start by prodding the wheel, then announce ot their bored children that this is a Cistern, powered these days by compressed air in a bottle in the box. This is the real reason that firearms are forbidden in public places.

Hi everyone,

What’s the best way to clean up a gurdy wheel? By this I mean one which has been touched by dirty hands, not an over rosined one.

Many thanks

Jacqueline

Dear Jocelyn,
Alden and Cali Hackman are well and working hard in Indianola.  I spent time with them this weekend at Folklife and we played up a storm.

If you have their phone number, give them a call.  If not, contact me off list and I’ll help.

Yours,
Chris Wright
