Hello all,

I just wanted to say, all mentions of hurdy gurdies for sale are always
appreciated--but I must take difference with the phrase 'not a serious
instrument', simply because it is not a trompette- and chromaticism-equipped
HG. I love a well played vielle a roue and its juicy
coups-de-je-ne-sais-combien just as much as then next HG wingnut, but the
seriousness of an instrument depends not upon what it has or doesn't have or if
it says 'the north face' or brews coffee, but rather the artistry of the
luthier/es and of the musicians caressing the keys. Many, many instruments are
simple as a fishing pole yet can make the most wonderful music in the right
hands. A magnificent reconstruction of a 1-person organistrum won't play
bourrées or coups de 17 and a beautiful vielle a roue by Hackmann & Hackmann
won't sound right playing the tenor of a 3 voice conductus. They're not meant
to! (Interesting experiments notwithstanding...)
Anyhow, no offense directed towards anyone, just my 2 centimos and a little
awareness-raising, thas'all...

Love & peace from back in Hoosierland,
Vlad
