Hey Dennis,

I live up in Winnetka, about 18 or so miles north of the city. I would
absoloutely love to come to this get together. Everything that I have
read says that it's improtant to actually try and see different
instruments, so I think that this would be a great help. Thank you
very much.

Yours,
Michael Gaschler

Hi, Michael, welcome to the list.

Where in Illinois are you? I'm in the midst of trying to find a weekend this
fall for a small group to get together and play gurdies in Chicago. That might
be a good opportunity for you to see a bunch of different instruments. If
you're interested, contact me off list to join the date discussion.

Subject: [HG] An introduction

Ok...I think i've finally got this right (i'm on my fourth try). So here we go.

Hi all,
I understand that it's customary to introduce myself when I first
join; so, here goes. My name is Michael Gaschler, and I am a high
school student in Illinois. I first became interested in the Hurdy
Gurdy about one year ago when I was looking into learing the hardanger
fiddle (a totally seperate story...). I came across a coupple
recordings on Matthew Szostak's hurdy gurdy site. I am still in the
market for a hurdy gurdy but I've got my eye on a few makers. If any
of you have any suggestions, I'm all ears. So that's my story to this
point, but I'm very excited to get a hurdy gurdy and to learn to play.
Well, thanks for reading.

Yours,
Michael Gaschler
