Yes, I think me must realise that, at the moment, flying FROM the UK (not anywhere else) is subject to very stringent restrictions. At the moment, hand luggage is restricted to about the size of a laptop bag (when the original post was sent, only keys and documents in a clear plastic bag were allowed). Even something as simple as a glasses case was banned. It is easing a little but the size of the hand luggage (regardless of the airline you are using or where you are flying to) is controlled by the airport - that is to say that when you arrive at the screening bit (where they x-ray your hand luggage and make you walk through the metal detector), they would confiscate anything larger. You have to check-in all baggage before then (before going through the control). The largest luggage allowed in the cabin is the size of one of those small sports bags that kids use for school - like a small rucksack (backpack) and the maximum depth is, I think, 16cm (that's about 3 -4 inches). I don't know of a HG that thin! There are also restrictions that say no liquids are allowed (except baby milk which has to be sampled by the person carrying it to ensure it is baby milk and medicines which have to be proven that they are genuine although they don't say how - even a bottle of water or juice is banned) and a few other things. That would rule out liquid rosin as well. No problems if you are willing to let it all go in the luggage hold but no chance of having it in the cabin at present. I think anyone intending to visit the UK should be aware of this. You may well be able to bring your HG IN as cabin luggage but you won't (at the moment) be allowed to do so on the return journey. It will have to go in the hold and be loaded/unloaded by the baggage handlers (gentle creatures that they are) so be prepared.. These restrictions are for the UK ONLY so wouldn't apply to anywhere else (like Amsterdam) where there would be no problems. Sorry to go on but I really do think that non-UK players need to be aware of this. Imagine arriving here with your HG in a gig case and finding that, for your journey home, it has to go in the hold. Not a nice thought. Hope this has made the situation here in the UK a little clearer.
