Hey, Roy -
Of course we all look glum - no Roy!
If you don't have your answer by the time I get home, I'll look up my
DeWit.

Welcome home, everyone! I went to the OTW homepage, saw the

THAT MUCH? ( Yes , as a matter of fact I DO think that song is about

CAVEAT: what follows is about luthierie, on Hurdy Gurdies, on a
specific design of hurdy gurdy. So if yer bored or annoyed by such
things, IGNORE, DELETE or otherwise buzz off. But don't just sit there
and gripe about people seriously discussing Hurdy Gurdies on a Hurdy
Gurdy list, go spend some quality time with yor cat or your child, or
your orchids, ....or something.
I took vacation this week with the idea of reviving "Lil Doorit" so I'd
have something to play while I attempt, yet again. to repair the crack
in my luteback.
I'm to the fitting-the-soundboard stage and want to make a few scratchy
marks on the soundbound while I can still see where the top-braces are.
I can"t find my DEWIT, Botermans (et al) book, and I can't remember the
scale length, so If you have the chanterelle bride placement, or know
it, pipe up. I also will need the placement of the drone and dog
bridges.
I measured from the peghead wall to the tail facing end of that brace
30.5 mm and/or 15 & 3/16 " which leads to the other question:
There was a discussion at one point about the tail-side of the bridge
was best at 1/4 inch behind that brace ( I think). If anybody
remembers that, I would be grateful for having my memory refreshed.
OK, I'm done, the rest of y'all. Welcome back.
Later,
