All,

I've just started getting a warbling sound on the low low D string of my
Weichselbaumer, which I get only on certain notes (eg b). I strongly
suspect it's the string itself (a Thomastik Dominant viola IV) which I have
recently replaced: on looking closely at it, I see a faint spiralling
pattern which I've not noticed on strings before.

Could be that I've bought a duff string - I'll see what happens when I
replace it.

Anyone had a similar experience?

Mike
