I don't know if this is the same but I get a similar thing on my dulcimer
(mountain) on the same note (and only that one) when I press down the
string - both sections of the string make a sound. I'm sure there is a
technical reason why it only does it on that particular note (nothing
catching) and I have to remember to slide to that note and not bang my
finger down so I am making an uneducated assumption that the tangent is at
fault by allowing the string to vibrate on both sides. maybe something
applied to the edge of the tangent to dampen the initial contact may work?
Just a speculation so don't try anything drastic!
